District VII Trustee Corner
Greetings District VII Members!
Wow! This Fall has been full of activity! Louann Goodnough gave me a wonderful introduction in the Summer newsletter. Thank you for welcoming me and allowing me time to absorb all the new information. I intend to use this newsletter and the new District VII ListServe to share and pass along information to you.
After my appointment by President Quinones, I started with the Board of Trustees (BOT) meeting in Chicago in September. Meeting with the other District Trustees and ADHA Leadership & Staff was an amazing experience. Please be sure to read up on the meeting in this issue. President, Pam Quinones provided a great overview in our November Access Issue, please check it out if you have not done so.
Later in September I assisted the SD Dental Hygienists' Association initiate their new strategic planning process. This is still a work in progress, but they have gotten a great start. Unfortunately, with my new appointment and already busy schedule, I was not able to attend North Dakota, Minnesota or Wisconsin's Annual Sessions. I would like to extend a special thank you to Louann Goodnough for providing a District Update at the MN meeting in Duluth. I would love to attend these meetings and give greetings, although it would be much more beneficial to include a workshop. Perhaps the state annual sessions may be too busy of a time to include this, so we may need to look at other opportunities. Please keep this in mind for future visits.
National Dental Hygiene Month came in October and I was busy helping with the 3rd annual Sweet Tooth 5k in Rapid City, South Dakota which is sponsored by my local component. Please check out the Sweet Tooth 5k Link below to read more about the event and a great story to go with it!
I would love to hear how other states/components in the District celebrate and promote our month. Please drop me a line and let me know what's happening in your corner of the district! I'd love to share your news here!
Also at the BOT Meeting this fall, ADHA assigned new email addresses for trustees. I am willing to answer any questions you may have and if I cannot help you, I will put you in contact with someone who can! Please use this email to contact me: suzannel@adha.net.
Along with the new email addresses, ADHA has set up District Listservs to help keep open the lines of communication. This is a relatively new concept to me so click on the link in the box to the left, "Click here to join the District VII ListServ", to sign up. There is an informational video on the page which explains how to join up for those who join me in this new "learning curve" adventure!
